Live Concerts!

Post by Cial on Sat Jul 14, 2012 12:30 pm

So what are you guys going to see this summer? Any upcoming concerts/events planned? Share some stories! As for me, I just got home from a CRAZY Weezer concert in my hometown's summer concert series on the Niagara river/Erie canal side area.

Here's a pic:

Imagine that, with about 3000 more people, at night, with the stage lit up, the lights flashing and a very potent smell of ganja. That was pretty much my night.

I guarantee you you won't have the fun of seeing 12 people crowd surfing at once at a lame-ass geriatric classic rock event like Springsteen.

Re: Live Concerts!

I do. And most of his music is slow and soft and isn't worth going to a live performance for. He might be an alright artist, but tell me, would you rather listen to Springsteen belt out "Sad Eyes" in concert:

OOOooor, participate in a huge dancing and singing frenzy as the band and audience both go crazy singing "We are all on drugs":

Concerts are more about the music, it's about the experience as well. Between Weezer and Springsteen, I'd choose Weezer if not only to not hear "Born in the USA" another time in my lifetime.

honestly i'd rather hear bruce springsteen play born to run in a gigantic stadium with a crap ton of people having an awesome time listening to music that doesn't rely on lolsofunnyrandumbxD humor to be popular.

Really.

Are you serious.

You can't really be serious.

There's no way you can possibly be that dumb to not even know what Weezer's music is like.

I can give you SEVERAL examples of Weezer songs that don't rely on humor.

And, probably most importantly:

This is me just naming songs off the top of my head. Shut up. You have no idea what you're even talking about.

Even if weezer has a few songs that aren't based around humor, the majority are and the majority of his popularity comes from those songs and then branches off into his more serious ones.

Also bruce would be way cooler to see live.

The majority of their songs aren't humor, dunce. The only ones that are are on the Red album and Raditude, which are two albums out of the several they've had since 1994. All of the songs I mentioned are some of their most popular songs.

Bruce is old nobody wants to see his wrinklyness.

I've never understood the appeal of standing cramped together with thousands of other people just to hear some music I could also get as an MP3.

Also Bruce Springsteen > Weezer

The experience, Dig! Even if you're not a person who parties a lot, if a group of people all go to see a band, they have something in common. If the band plays upbeat and good music, those people might dance. If they also have catchy lyrics, people will probably sing along, and before long, you're making friends with people through music and having a fun time dancing and singing. (And beer, too!)

Also Bruce Springsteen > Weezer

I'm not arguing which is a better musician, because that's really up to the beholder. I only argued that the concert experience would be much more rewarding at a Weezer concert because of the energy that the crowd and band would bring, and corrected Tim when he said Weezer was a primarily humor band, which they're definitely not.

I love Weezer but you're a moron Cial.

Anyway, Saw Panic! At The Disco last year live and it was awesome. They did an awesome tribal drum bit in Lets Kill Tonight. Also went to a festival this summer COMPLETELY unprepared. Had a good time, saw a few new acts had a good time.

Whateves. I just don't see what's so great about Bruce. He's too overplayed.

Back on topic. August 9th The Mighty Mighty Bosstones are coming for FREE at that same beautiful Canalside venue! (If you haven't heard of them, they're the band in Clueless.I really reccomend checking them out. Apart from being one of the most famous Ska bands of all time, they have amazing musicians and songs.

Also Young The Giant is coming Thursday for free, but I can't go due to going to an amusement park.

Weezer isn't overplayed. And I didn't say Bruce was subpar. I only said he was overplayed. I don't care how good you are, when you hear a song or musician too much it becomes tired and you get sick of it.

In my case, since the day I was born, every July has been filled with BAAAAAAARN IN THE YOU ESS EEEEEH. BOOOAAAAAAAARN IN THE YOU ES EYYYHEEYY. And it's honestly awful.

And thus a Meme was born.

"Culturally Oblivious Hipster Cial"

Also, just because a song is over played doesn't mean you can't listen to the artist's other hits. I mean if that was true Nickleback would be the only band on earth with more than one song.
