Hey guys, this discussion is fun not, NERDS haha but I'm afraid TR and TR's host doesn't condone discussions surrounding illegal activity. Take this discussion to other modes of contact, thanks!

Yes ma'am.

So I heard if you ignore the silly online thing and don't mind constant balancing, Diablo 3 is quite a swell game. I might actually acquire it later, after the balancing wave died down. Maybe by then Blizzard releases a patch that's lets you play singleplayer offline.

Balancing in a multi-player game is fine. Each class should have their own merits but they all need an equal degree of strengths and weaknesses or it's unfair. As far as single-player goes, who cares if single-player is unbalanced, but seeing as Blizzard is obviously putting more emphasis on online play this time and considering this time you can import your single-player character into multi-player (from what I understand) it kind of makes sense. I'd imagine it would be weird if you built a character who heavily relies on a skill in single-player only to find your strategy is worthless in multi-player when you import him over.

It is pretty fun from what I've seen. I think multiplayer works extremely well for this game. Sure, some of it strikes me as pay to win, but it's not neccesary to play through the game and benefits other players instead of Blizzard.

I think I misunderstood that last post, could you clarify? I feel like you just said pay to win doesn't benefit Blizzard.

Allow me to clarify: He's saying that Blizz doesn't take a cut from the real money auction house. Which is wrong. And stupid.

There's a real money auction house? That just feels wrong. Isn't that the same idea as Chinese gold farming in WoW?

Re: Diablo III

Blizzard has announced that the real-money auction house in Diablo 3, where players will be able to trade real cash for in-game items, will not be added to the game any time soon.

Previously Blizzard planned to implement the real-money auction house soon, but in a recent blog post they said that they "need a bit more time to iron out the existing general stability and gameplay issues before that feature goes live. While we don't have a new launch date to share just yet, we’ll have more information soon."
Read: They still have so much balancing to do they don't want to piss off players that buy an expensive item that gets nerfed a few days later.

But still, giving people the ability to sell loot for real money is just a giant invitation for cheaters to make money with their pastime. And of course Chinese farmers.

Except you can't actually withdraw the money without a serious chunk being taken by Blizard, so really: no matter how much money you buy or spend on the auction house, only one person becomes richer: Blizzard.

So, as those who have mostly left the bulding already, Diablo 3’s Real Money Auction House is double mysterious and we don’t know what it’s for. Well, okay: we know know. The “moneys.” What I’m saying is that getting new stuff actually is the game. For us, anyway. Getting and, crucially, equipping new loot. The whole AH thing short-circuits the entire idea: the game is, functionally speaking, a pinata. Right? Obviously, you could just go buy candy at the store. It’s not about having candy. It’s about getting candy.

I really don't care that much about the "issues" out there. I just didn't enjoy the gameplay. Their was not that much depth and it was basically a hack and slash when it came down to it. Spamming abilities is boring, and you hardly ever need to do something that requires thought.

You just described every Hack&Slash video game ever. I'm not sure what you expected a Diablo game to be?

I expected something where you had to time abilities or use different abilities based on the situation. It is described as an action/mmorpg and that is even stretching it in both categories.

You can't compare Guild Wars to Diablo. That's like comparing Madden NFL and Need for Speed.

Re: Diablo III

Well they're both under the same genre, so I think it is very different from comparing Madden NFL and Need for Speed, since they are games with little to no similarities and are in an entirely different genre. These days it sounds like you can't compare any two games.

Give me a game I can compare it to, and don't say Diablo II because it feels a bit old to try to do a strong comparison with interface/graphics/controls included.

Inb4 original Diablo.

Dig, are we supposed to duel for the bronze in the tourney? I never heard back from Tom who won your duel.
