I think for battle, we could try a FF1 style art.¨
OR, better idea!
Fire Emblem!

Dunno if we can do Fire Emblem, but I think you're right that either that or FFI is the way to go.

FF1 looks like it would be awesome and it would work if we use the side facing sprites designated for walking. However I still think that overworld might be an option.

Well, it depends how complex we want to be with the weapons/fighting system.
If we want just a few, we should go with FF for GBA games, that way we can find sprites for anything.
If however we want more weapons, and potential evolutions: then Fire Emblem, since it has a few billion classes.
Or heck, both?

yeah... no.
Heres the thing, what we pic has to be simple.
We don't have the skill or the knowledge to plug in advanced graphics, so we need something that looks cool in its simplicity.
Also, realize that if we have to flash this, then we need to limit the art to those guys.
wait... Gimp can make flash files right?

not nessisaraly. id look to nuke on his judgement of the situation. hes the programer. whats he believe we can and cant do withen a reasonable amount of time with him programing alone.

and it doesint have to be flashed either, could look like old school mortal combat for gameboy or even larger sized figures for combate mode. the way i saw it was just having it look similer to AQ's battle screan and animations but with pixilations.

Also, I think we need to decide on a certain level of quality.
We cant have super well worked on sprites with good shading (like what Neo did) and unshaded tricolor stuff like what Kera does.
We need to decide how many bits we are going to use.

I like Nelioka's art the most because its the most detailed and epic looking. However if we cannot reach the same level of quality a full set of characters like Kera's would be better than a split style set of characters. And if we are worrying about bits than I really need to redo this because it has a lot of colours.

I could try to add some shading to Arch's stuff if people feel that is an issue but I don't pretend it's something I've ever done before and I wont try unless they want me to.

It would be best if a lot of us took a crack at shading Kera's stuff then we picked the best.

I'm serious. ignoring the fact that the first two chars he made are basically red, white and black. The Cial one has barely any shading and otherwise blocky colors, all black lines, etc.

AF said he uses MS Paint awhile back. I tried to make her use PDN, but idk if she did it.

If she did, she probably doesn't use advanced colors.

Re: Mission One - The Tutorial

Sebi, even if you think you're doing anyone a favor, you're just being a douche. I agree, her shading could use some work. But instead of saying "your art sucks", you can try to help her improve it.

Also unless I'm mistaken, the two characters she made first are supossed to look the same. I haven't really paid attention to the story she has for them, but I think it's a male/female version of the same character.

Arch, remember when you're shading that all the light is coming from one direction. It's mostly fine except the shoes are lit up on the bottom, as opposed to the rest of the picture. Also, if you darkened the shading a bit more to make it more noticeable, I think it'd look nice.

ASIDE FROM THAT, Looks cool.
